Andres Kupries of ActiveState created a binding of the OpenNI framework providing Tcl with access to MS Kinect™ and related sensor systems - called KineTcl. The OpenNI framework is an open source SDK used for the development of 3D sensing middleware libraries and applications.
Future work will allow the museum to customize the space for individual patrons by using their biometric data derived from Kinect's skeleton joints.
We have begun research with Judd Morrisey of the Art Institute of Chicago and of the performance art troop, ATOM-r, on various development platforms like Processing and Unity 3D with a special focus on Kinect sensor integration, interactive 3D models, and multi-screen exhibitions. (ATOM-r exhibit)
